The Inheritance

Suya Devi was very tired of being very tired. Se knew her time was almost up. They would be coming for her.

Suya Devi was very tired of being very tired. Se knew her time was almost up. They would be coming for her. She was ready to leave but first she had to make sure that her knowledge would be passed on and continued to be lived. She had written her most precious secrets in a book. That book would be confiscated by those that pursued her and the book would probably be destroyed. Suya Devi had another way of making sure that her precious knowledge would live on. She ran in haste to her devotee; finding her at the temple gate.

“Purnam, listen, they will be at our gates soon. We both knew this day would be coming.”

“Mother, no it can’t be.”

“Yes, today is the day. Listen very carefully, these will be my last words to you in this life.”

“Mother, no no!”

“Shh, we don’t have much time. Don’t worry I have found away to continue my work. It will carry on. An American woman is waking up right now, she is coming into the true knowledge. She will continue the work I have started. You will be reborn into her life and you will serve her work as you have served me. Don’t worry, this is our destiny.”

“Mother, no, no.”

“Come, we will hide the book as best as we can. Then I must be gone.”

“Mother, where will you go? They can’t take you.”

“Where I am going no one will find me. Remember, I love you and that love will guide you to her.

Purnam and Suya Devi hid the book in a box and buried it behind the temple. They could hear the horses hooves pounding the ground, the soldiers were almost there. Purnam looked into the Mother’s eyes in what would their last loving gaze together. The two women held hands and for a brief moment Purnam saw the Mother’s face change into another woman’s face. It startled her. It was a face very different from the Mother’s and yet, the eyes shinned with the same love that she had always seen coming from the Mother. The captain was calling out to them to stop. The Mother dropped her grasp and Purnam was surprised that the Mother’s form was gone. Just gone, without going anywhere where she could see.

The soldiers were astonished and couldn’t believe their eyes, even though it was witnessed by them all.

“Where is she?” the captain demanded. “You must tell us where she is.”

“How can I”? Purnam asked. We all saw the same thing. The Mother, Suya Devi just disappeared.”

“That’s not possible!” “You must of have hidden her somewhere. This must be some kind of trick”

“Hold her for questioning, the captain ordered. “Men search the temple and grounds for her. And we must find her book and destroy it.”

Purnam was held for many days. The captain refused to believe in the miracle that he saw with his own eyes. The other men believed that the miracle of Suya Devi’s spontaneous dissolving really occurred and that let them to feel that perhaps the woman was a real saint or holy person, not a witch. They had scoured the grounds to find the blasphemous book that Suya Devi had written but like Suya Devi herself; it had disappeared. Perhaps it had been passed to another and then hidden somewhere else. The captain was unable to get any answer out of Purnam that satisfied him. He let her go and had one of his men watch her. She never returned to the temple grounds, she went back to her parents’ house and lived out the rest of her life close to her family. She never returned to dig up the book. No one ever found it. Its’ secret lay hidden in the womb of the earth. And Suya Devi were did she disappear to?

Saramada had fallen asleep very early. A strange feeling was possessing her. Fold upon fold of energy was spinning her up and her third eye was buzzing very strongly. Her eyes rolled up and waves of light partitioned and she found herself walking through an unfamiliar room. Everything about the room spoke to her of another place, another time and culture. She could smell the food that had been arranged on the long table before her. The smells seemed both familiar and enticing and foreign and unusual. She felt an urge to taste it and as she reached out her hand to scoop it to her mouth she saw that her hands were not her own. Rather they belonged to another and she was in this woman’s experience. The hands were of a bigger woman and they were darker in color. She heard the jewelry; the many gold bangles on her arm clatter together. I am in someone else’s experience, she thought. Saramada felt her own persona inside this woman’s. To be sharing this woman’s consciousness felt natural. The woman felt so big but not in a physical way. The nature of her energy; how she felt was so wonderfully beautiful and bigger than what people feel to be. Was she some kind of Goddess? Saramada thought, so this is what love feels like; that it cannot be possessed, that it is so big that eternity is not big enough to hold it. That is Who God is.

She sensed that there was some kind of danger that was imminent. She heard herself as the woman/goddess speak, “An American woman is waking up now; she is coming into true knowledge.” Saramada felt the absolute love the woman/goddess had for her friend and she also felt the friend’s trust of the woman she called ‘The Mother’. She heard the hooves of horses coming closer and saw the soldiers riding toward a temple. She heard her Self speak lovingly to her friend assuring her that they will be reunited in another life. Then, she saw only light and her form and the Goddess/Mother dissolved into light. Saramada woke up; not from a dream but from the dream of herself. She was bigger than she had ever imagined herself to be. She was not self contained anymore.

All motives she had for her life were gone. This state held no thoughts and she barely had any inclination towards maintaining a body. The habits of ordinary survival persisted as she enjoyed her new state of freedom from all the body/mind’s implication. She saw and felt her own form as happiness and that happiness could never be contained; that it was the natural condition of all beings. She smiled. She gave her smiles to everyone that she saw. She was not trying to find herself; to find happiness, happiness was her. She had never been a suffering one in search of herself. She was never away. That had been only a dream. She lived a simple life of enjoying attraction. She did not avoid suffering. Over time a small group of people became attracted to her glow of love and settled around her to find out her secret so they too could possess it for themselves. They did not come to her understanding her; that would take a very long time.
