Yellow Gorilla

A game board of funny characters
on a long winding trail of adventures,
I moved a yellow plastic gorilla
amidst the giraffes and elephants.

While we played the game in the dream,
I remember you turned to me,
funny, you had your bathrobe and glasses on--
Quietly but with serene conviction,
you looked at the yellow gorilla,
then back at me and said,
"You will die in a few more days."
I moved my yellow plastic gorilla ahead two spaces
and sighed in relief.
I was tired of the game
even if it only was a dream.
