A Day Too Long

It always feels like the day after.
Again, I stayed a day too long.

I've lost all form,
where has discipline gone?

I couldn't own it.
I couldn't give it,
only witness it.

Pen point,
blank brain,
Fingers held tight on pad,
toes crinkle.
Glasses and eyes,
where's the keys?

I'm another day late.

I don't even know what I'm saying anymore,
knowledge is dreary and too long.

I've got to wear it,
not say it,
'cause I've already been here too long.
